Leaders in asset recovery and recycling
Founded in 1990, Charterhouse Müller is a leader in IT asset recovery and recycling. Based in Reading with capacity to process 2000 units per day, it provides services to globally recognised organisations.
Its founders, Ray Johnson and John Rowland, still manage the company day-to-day and, while forming partnerships with leading companies, still maintain Charterhouse Müller's independent status.
Ray Johnson (Chairman) has always created leading edge technologies
and has founded a number of successful companies including the Verran Group plc, AC Datalink,
MCD Computer Auctions, Mills Associates, and Lincad. Between 1986 and 1989 he received several
prestigious awards including the Sunday Times Innovation Award, the BBC's Tomorrows World
innovative product award and the DTI's Young Entrepreneur and Businessman of the Year. He has also
served as an adviser to the House of Commons select committee for microcomputers and is a
founder of the Computer Retailers' Association.
After launching the home PC into the UK in 1981, and achieving a 75% share of the market
for Sinclair, Acorn and Apple, John Rowland (Managing Director) went on to set
up and run WH Smith Business Computer Centres, which retailed IBM, Apricot, Hewlett Packard
and Wang Computers. Subsequently, he launched the first IBM clone to the UK retail market and
served as a director of Our Price Music and WH Smith Retail where he was responsible
for sales of £200m.
Charterhouse Müller is a member of ICER and its processes are designed to provide full compliance with all relevant laws, including The Data Protection Act and the EEC WEEE Directive.
